Entrepreneur vs Academician

An entrepreneur tries to build a minimum viable product, put it in the market and starts getting instant feedback. They try to work on the feedback, redeploy and the cycle repeats.

While an academician believes in putting most valued product, a product with minimal errors, all edge cases covered.

Who is correct? Well that’s subjective.

Let’s try to understand with an example.

We know of Ethereum, a block chain crypto network. It’s like a new internet on which various decentralised apps are built.

Originally it was started by both Vitalik Buterin and Charles Hoskinson (also Gaven Wood, now running Polka Dot). Vitalik has an entrepreneurial mindset while Charles is an academician.

Vitalik wanted to quickly push the product into the market and see how it behaves but Charles wanted to be thorough. Due to this clash, Charles decided to split and start another crypto asset called Cardano.

Today we see Ethereum having a huge market cap and Cardano is no-where near but having said that Ethereum is struggling because of clogged network due to bulk of apps being deployed on its network (which Ethereum sidechains are taking advantage of)

At the same time Cardano is rising and solving problems by partnering with developing economies like Ethiopia where most of the people are unbanked.

My personal take on delivering quality vs speed is that I prefer speed. I believe the quality will come with time. The more you do the better you get and with speed you will be able to cover more in less time. I mean this is subjective though.

What’s your take?

P.S. Forgive if I mentioned any facts incorrect because of my limited knowledge
